Love is in the Air – Part 1

You Betcha!

The design team has been in a tizzy and practically floating on air while getting ready for a love-filled weekend. To kick it off right, we wanted to share just a few of our Pebbles goodies and projects for this much anticipated holiday.

Beth Root created this fiery Love Box using the Linnie Bell collection with coordinating Pebbles Chips and Ribbon. Just what Beth intends to keep in this box is a mystery to us, but I’m sure it has special meaning for her – wink, wink. Oh Beth – what are you going to put in your Love Box??? Do tell…

Akiko Kuroki must have a serious sweet tooth, because she made this darling little heart-shaped box to hold her favorite sweets – chocolate of course. One of the signature traits of Pebbles collections is how well they mix and match and Akiko used some of the Skipping Along collection along with the Lil’ Miss collection. And, instead of a cherry on top, she added a red glittered heart-shaped Chip.

Celeste Smith made this passion-filled card combining the Lil’ Miss and Linnie Bell collections. Her addition of a small heart and button adds just the right amount of embellishment to give this card that extra special something that will put a smile on some lucky person this weekend.

I was inspired to create this card while looking at the myriad of Valentine cards in the grocery store. So many choices and too much money to spend. So, I used my Cricut Create to cut various sized hearts with the Don Juan cartridge that came with the machine and I used the solid backsides of the Linnie Bell papers, because they have just the right mixture of red, pinks and peaches to give this card a fun-loving feel. Then I added a glittered flourish Pebbles Chip and some Pebbles Ribbon along with two duplicate Pebbles Rubons. The effect is quite “lovely”.

Voila – Love is definitely in the Air. We’ll be back on Thursday with some more amorous projects to share.

Analogous Colours…

Welcome to the Pebbles Inc blog!  Lisa Warren here, and I’ll be your host for this week.  I love colour…every shade…and I love combining colours.  You can make any colour combination work as long as you get the balance right…all you need to do is add a neutral such as white, black or brown.  My challenge to the girls this week was to create a layout using this colour scheme.

Yellow, orange and green combined together are an analogous colour scheme…meaning the colours sit next to each other on the colour wheel.   You can use this colour wheel to come up with your own colour schemes…just add a neutral to balance.

At the moment, I just love yellow, but that doesn’t mean I want every layout to be bright yellow.  Just a touch is enough.  Here’s my layout…I have used patterned papers from a few Pebbles ranges, yellow chips and Pebbles Fishin’ stickers…a perfect match for my photo.  I’ve varied the sizes of the patterns used and the percentage of each colour to create a balanced layout.

Here, Beth Root has created a layout inspired by the orange and brown tones from the colour combination, using patterned paper from the Lil’ Buddy range and orange Pebbles Chips.  Orange is a great colour for boy layouts and I love how Beth has used both colour and black and white photos here to tone down the orange.

I love how Mimi Leinbach has created a shaped background using patterned paper from the Lil’ Miss collection.  The yellow is perfect to highlight all the Fall vegetables in her photos.  The touches of brown and green balance this layout perfectly.

Analogous colour schemes are so fun to work with, and the combinations are endless!  Have a go today!

Cheers, Lis.

How To: Mod Podge Picture Frames

The good news is that you don’t need a whole lot of supplies for this project, most you might already have in your craft supply stash!

What you will need:
Mod Podge (you can find at most craft or fabric stores)
foam brush
Your favorite patterned paper/embellishments/chalk
Wood frame
Exacto Knife

You may have to sand down any imperfections on the wood frame before you start so you are working with a flat surface. Next, apply a thin coat of Mod Podge using a foam brush.
Place the patterned paper over the frame and smooth out using your fingers.

This next step is very important … it prevents those annoying air bubbles … after the paper is on the frame, place it paper side down on a clean flat surface. You will need to put some weight on it, anything you have… books, photo box, whatever!

Wait a bit (until Mod Podge is dry) and then cut the paper off around the frame using an exacto knife or something similar. It should look something like this… put a few thin coats of Mod Podge on the surface, let dry, and you are ready to be creative!

The finished product will be a perfect expression of your creativity . . . So have fun!

It was so much fun hosting the blog this week! It was so exciting to see pictures from CHA. I am absolutely ecstatic that Pebbles has come out with so many new products. I live for rub ons and I can’t wait to get them in my hot little hands! Have a great weekend everyone!

Back from CHA!

(And still recovering! 🙂 CHA is always a fun time, and this year was no exception! FIVE of the ladies from the Pebbles Design Team were able to attend and it was a total blast to meet in person and putting faces with names! Gaëlle even came all the way from France!

Time for the long awaited photos from the show! Our Creamy and Pearlescent Chalks were on demo at the front table. (This was probably my most favorite part of the booth–it’s made from old fruit crates and a door!) Each new collection comes with so many fun new products–Chips, Ribbon, Brads, Rub Ons, Stickers, Paper, Paper Flowers, Transparent Stackers and more!

Suzanne somehow slipped away without getting her picture at the Pebbles booth, but here’s a few snapshots of the rest of the Pebbles Design Team at CHA:

(from top left, clockwise: me with Samantha, Lynn, Gaëlle, and Susan) (I think Susan and I were laughing about something! 🙂

Brenda was out and about visiting all the booths and had time to snap a few photos with some of our friends! (Doesn’t Brenda look good in florals??! Tell her she doesn’t look like a couch from your grandmother’s house!)

1. Peter / Sakura 2. Crate Paper 3. Doodlebug
4. Delaney / EK Success 5. Heather Downs 6. Stacy Julian
7. Craig & Annie / Crea 8. Matt Sherry 9. Lindsay Bowerman

It’s always amazing to see how everything comes together for shows. Several of our blog readers stopped by and said “hi!” We love meeting you and it’s fun to put faces with names! We’ll see you in Chicago in a few months!

Jelly Rolls, Layer Cake, Honey Buns,

Turnovers . . . You have my attention!

These aren’t only ways to satisfy your sweet tooth, but also specialty cuts of fabric. Glorious piles of charming fabric.

Fabric is an extension of my love for beautiful design.
Now that scrapbook companies are producing their designs on fabric I could not be more excited! BTW I am still secretly
pining for the Linnie Bell line to come out as a fabric. I adore the colors in that line!

Fabric inspires me everyday, and constantly adds projects to my already endless list. Here is a little peek and my next project. . . as soon as I saw these darling owls in the Pottery Barn Kids catalog they were bumped up to #1 on my TO DO List! I wonder if my husband would mind a couch full these little guys?

I know everyone is dying to hear from Lindsay about CHA. Pictures!!! We want Pictures!!!!

See you back on Friday for tips on how to make Mod Podge frames! Happy Wednesday everyone!
