Color Blocking Layout with Hidden Journaling

Hello everyone! How are you? It’s Eva Pizarro here on the blog showing you a quick layout using Color Blocking. I use a lot this technique because it allows me to make a quick layout with perfect results every the time!

When I received the Everyday Collection, one of the papers that really caught my eye was this one:

Happy Thoughts Paper by @pebblesinc

I loved the mix of colors and sentiments and thought it would work great with the color blocking technique! Half of the job is already done! I also got inspired by this layout that I previously made for the Pebbles blog. It is an old layout, and I loved to scraplift it.

To make the layout, begin by layering your papers and leaving a spot for your title.

I wanted to include several pictures and (like the original layout), and I decided to hide my journaling. To make the flaps, cut a 2×4 inch white cardstock and bend it in half.

Glue your picture on one side and glue the other half to the paper.

Glue all your photos and add your title. Because the paper had many sentiments I decided to cover some squares with patterned paper. I used the 6×6 paper pad because that way the designs are to scale.

To keep your flaps closed, add small brads.

Write your journaling inside the flaps.

Add some stitching using your sewing machine. I even stitched through my title! You can find useful tips on how to do this on this post.

And here it is the final layout! I didn’t think it needed more embellishments – it’s perfect this way!

Do you use this color blocking technique? Here’s another example made with patterned paper squares and stitching.
